Disclosure of Interest in Voting Shares

I am writing to inform you that we have received a notification dated 15 August
2000, in accordance with Section 198 of the Companies Act 1985 (as amended),
that on 8 August 2000, T Rowe price Associates, Inc. acquired T Rowe Price
International, Inc. (formerly, Rowe Price-Fleming International, Inc.). As a
result of this transaction, the interest of T Rowe Price Associates, Inc., on
behalf of itself and its subsidiaries, is now as shown below:

48,990,747 shares, representing 4.27% of the Company's current issued share
capital.
