Renew announces contract wins in Specialist Engineering

Renew Holdings plc, the specialist engineering and construction services group, has secured over £20m of new orders and in addition a further extension to its principal nuclear framework in its Specialist Engineering business, reflecting the Group's greater emphasis on this business area.

In Nuclear, Renew is pleased to announce a further extension to the Multi Disciplined Site Wide (MDSW) framework at Sellafield up to March 2010, with the potential for a further year's extension.  This framework covers production operations support, general infrastructure and decommissioning and is one of four frameworks which Shepley Engineers holds at Sellafield.

Shepley Engineers has also been awarded a £4.3m contract from Sellafield Ltd for the recladding of the Sellafield Receipt & Storage Building.  This asset maintenance project, which includes the removal and replacement of cladding in addition to structural repairs and strengthening, is due to be completed by March 2012 and is outside of the framework arrangements.

In the Water sector, Seymour, the Group's Specialist Water business, has recently been awarded a further £5.5m of contracts under its framework with Northumbrian Water for both flood alleviation and combined sewer overflows. The largest schemes, valued at £2.1m and £1.1m, are located in Gateshead and Newcastle.

In Land Remediation, VHE has been awarded the initial land remediation work for the 2014 Commonwealth Games Athlete's Village at Dalmarnock in Glasgow. The £5.9m project will commence later this summer to enable construction work to begin in Autumn 2010.  The client Glasgow City Council, with their development partner is developing the village, a site of 38.5 acres, for use during the games and after as a new neighbourhood for Glasgow.

VHE has also been appointed preferred bidder by the Royal States of Jersey for a £4.6m project to decontaminate and remediate the former Jersey Town Gas Works to form a new town park in St. Helier, Jersey.  Final design and planning will be developed throughout 2010 with remediation works to commence on site in January 2011.

Brian May, Chief Executive, said:

'These contract wins illustrate the increasing importance, and resilience, of Specialist Engineering. They emphasise the strength of our position in the Nuclear and Water Sectors and demonstrate the excellence of our specialist skills in Land Remediation.'
