Sandvika, April 28, 2010: Renewable Energy Corporation ASA (REC) reported
revenue of NOK 2,360 million in the first quarter 2010, an increase of 22
percent the first quarter 2009.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted
to NOK 415 million in the first quarter 2010, compared to NOK 510 million in the
first quarter 2009. The EBITDA margin thus declined to 18 percent from 26
percent in the first quarter 2009.
Operating profit (EBIT) was a negative NOK 125 million in the first quarter,
compared to NOK 298 million in the first quarter 2009. The main reasons for the
negative operating results are reduced sales prices, expansion and ramp-up costs
and increased depreciation on assets taken in use.

NOK 351 million in the first quarter last year. Profit before tax was thus NOK
730 million in the first quarter 2010, compared to NOK 650 million in the first
