Shanks Group plc - First Quarter Statement



Reporting to shareholders at the Company's Annual General Meeting in Glasgow
today (28 July) Group Chairman Ian Clubb said:

'The Group continues to focus on the higher technology end of the waste
treatment industry. Opportunities both within the Benelux market and the
burgeoning UK municipal PFI market are being actively pursued.

Overall results for the first quarter of the 2005/6 year are in line with our
expectations.'
