                            Appointment of Chairman

As previously stated in the preliminary results announcement made on 2 June
2006, Mr Ian Clubb, having reached age 65, and after twelve years service, will
be retiring from the Board of Shanks Group plc following the conclusion of the
Annual General Meeting due to be held on 27 July 2006. He will be succeeded by
Mr Adrian Auer who joined the Board as a Non-executive director on 16 May 2005.
