                     Confirmation of Retirement of Chairman

As announced on 27 January 2006 Mr Ian Clubb, having reached age 65, has retired
as Chairman of the Board of Shanks Group plc and also as a Director with effect
from the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting held on 27 July 2006. He has
been succeeded by Mr Adrian Auer.
