Pre-Close Trading Update
Shanks Group plc, a leading international sustainable waste management business,today announces its pre-close trading update for the six months ending 30 September 2013, ahead of its interim results which will be released on 7 November 2013.
During the first half the Group has continued to trade in line with the Board's expectations across all four of its divisions.
Divisional highlights include:
· Benelux Solid Waste performing resiliently despite challenging markets, with continuing pressure on recyclate income and low volumes in the Netherlands in particular
· UK Solid Waste continuing to experience very tough market conditions, with ongoing volume pressure
· Hazardous Waste delivering robust performance, in particular in soil and water treatment
· Organics commissioning new assets at its Amsterdam Anaerobic Digestion facility and enjoying good volumes in its Dutch composting plants
· Good performance from UK Municipal, with major build programmes on track
· Cost savings programme progressing on plan
The Board remains confident that the Group will deliver a trading result in line with its expectations for the full year ending 31 March 2014.
