Renold is pleased to announce that the acquisition by the Company's
subsidiary, Jeffrey Chain Acquisition Company Inc., of all of the outstanding
common stock of Jeffrey Chain Corporation and all of the partnership interests
in Jeffrey Chain LP (together 'Jeffrey Chain') was completed on Friday, 31
March 2000.

Renold is also pleased to announce that on 30 March 2000 the Manchester City
Council Planning Committee approved the application for the development by
Asda of two-thirds of Renold's former chain factory site in Burnage,
Manchester.  The sale is conditional on, inter alia, the grant of satisfactory
planning permission for the premises to be developed into a retail store for
which the consideration is £4.75 million
