Rentokil Initial PLC 10 May 2001 RENTOKIL INITIAL SPENDS £4.3M ON FIVE ACQUISITIONS Rentokil Initial, the global business services company, announces that it has spent £4.3m on the acquisition of five businesses (with aggregate turnover of £9m) within its specialised service activities of security and tropical plants. In security, the purchase of Guardrite adds further critical mass to its UK guarding operations whilst Integral, in the UK, and Alnor, in France, provide 'bolt- on' additions to its existing electronic security businesses. The purchase of Hydromaster provides an entry into the German tropical plant market, whilst Plantopia adds 'bolt- on' benefits to the company's existing South African tropical plant activities. Commenting on these acquisitions, Sir Clive Thompson, Rentokil Initial Chief Executive, said:- 'These acquisitions are consistent with our policy of selectively acquiring high quality businesses within our specialised service areas, either to add additional critical mass to our existing activities or, in the case of Hydromaster, to roll out existing specialised services into additional countries to, in turn, provide a platform for further bolt-on acquisitional and organic growth in that country.'
