CITY CENTRE RESTAURANTS PLC
('the Group' or 'the Company')
AGM Statement
At today's Annual General Meeting Alan Jackson, Chairman of City Centre
Restaurants Plc, made the following comments on current trading:
'The Group has made a good start to the current year with like-for-like sales
increases to the end of the first quarter of 3% in Leisure Parks, 13% in
Concessions and 2% in High Street Restaurants. Overall, the Principal Trading
brands enjoyed a like-for-like sales increase of 4% for the first quarter and
this trend has continued in recent weeks'.
'Leisure Parks performed well throughout the period. We have opened six new
Frankie & Benny's restaurants to date, with a further six to eight expected to
open in the remainder of the year'.
'Our Concessions business enjoyed a good first quarter and our High Street
business, where we believe we are gaining market share, is proving robust'.
'In a climate where the customer has become much more discerning and has
significantly greater choice, the need to provide an excellent experience at
good value is paramount- this is exactly where we excel'.
'I look forward to reporting further good progress for the first half of 2003,
in September'.
