AGM Statement

Restaurant Group PLC 24 May 2006 The Restaurant Group plc AGM Statement At the AGM of The Restaurant Group plc, to be held later today, Alan Jackson, Chairman, will make the following remarks: Current trading, outlook We are encouraged by performance so far this year with a consistent like-for-like sales increase of 4% for the 20 weeks to 21 May. This augurs well for a good first half performance from which we expect to see continued strong conversion of operating profits into cash. Ongoing opening programme Our new openings programme this year is weighted towards the latter part of the year and we expect to open in excess of 30 new units during 2006. So far this year, we have opened nine new units. In addition, we have converted six former Deep Pan Pizza sites into our Leisure brands, and in all cases we have seen significant incremental sales achieved. Strong strategic position Our strategy continues to be focused towards business segments which provide sustainable and growing profits and cash flows. We have leading brands and strong market positions, which, notwithstanding a demanding environment for consumer focused businesses, will enable us to continue to deliver good growth. We look forward to reporting further good progress for the first half of the year, in September. 24 May 2006 ENQUIRIES: The Restaurant Group plc Tel: 020 7747 7750 Andrew Page, Chief Executive Officer Stephen Critoph, Group Finance Director College Hill Tel: 020 7457 2020 Matthew Smallwood This information is provided by RNS The company news service from the London Stock Exchange
