                    Appointment of Non-Executive Director


The board of City Centre Restaurants PLC is pleased to announce the
appointment of Mr Ian Hannah as a Non-Executive Director with immediate
effect.


Mr Hannah joined Scottish and Newcastle PLC in 1979 and held various positions
within the Group including Chairman of Newcastle Breweries, William Younger
and Thistle Hotels and Managing Director and Chairman of Scottish and
Newcastle Retail. He was appointed to The Scottish and Newcastle PLC board in
1988 and retired from Scottish and Newcastle in early 2001.


He was responsible during his period at Scottish and Newcastle for the
creation of Scottish and Newcastle Retail and instrumental in the acquisition
of Chef and Brewer in 1994 from Grand Metropolitan, then in 1999 he was
heavily involved in acquiring the Greenalls Pub Estate.


The retail division of Scottish and Newcastle has subsequently become a
leading pub caterer in the UK with such brands as Chef and Brewer, Bar 38 and
Premier Lodges.
