Tony Hughes appointed non-executive Director



The Board of The Restaurant Group plc is pleased to announce the appointment of
Tony Hughes (59) as a non-executive Director. He will join the Board with
immediate effect.



Mr Hughes retired from his position as Managing Director of the Restaurants
Division and stepped down from the main Board of Mitchells & Butlers plc on 31
December 2007.



He joined Bass Taverns in 1995 as Managing Director of the Restaurant Division.




In 2003 Bass/Six Continents plc demerged to become Intercontinental Hotels plc
and Mitchells & Butlers plc and Mr Hughes was appointed to the Plc board of
Mitchell's & Butlers.



Prior to joining Bass, Mr Hughes held senior management roles at B&Q, J.A.
Devenish and Whitbread, where he was Operations Director of Beefeater and
Managing Director of TGI Friday's.



No information is required to be disclosed in respect of Tony Hughes pursuant to
