      The Restaurant Group appoints Bob Ivell as a non-executive director





The Board of The Restaurant Group plc announces the appointment of Bob Ivell to
the Board as a non-executive director.  Bob will replace Ian Hannah as a
non-executive director at the conclusion of the current Offer for ASK Central
PLC. Ian, who has indicated his wish to retire, has completed nearly three years
of service with the Group.



Bob, who is 51, was until 2003 a main board director of Scottish & Newcastle plc
and Chairman and Managing Director of S&N Retail, until its disposal to Spirit
for £2.51 billion in October 2003. He joined S&N Retail in 1992 as Managing
Director for Restaurants and Developments, prior to which he worked for Grand
Metropolitan Hotels and Whitbread.



Alan Jackson, Executive Chairman of The Restaurant Group plc, said:
