The Board of The Restaurant Group plc announces that Robert Ivell, who has for
the past two and a half years served as a Non-Executive Director, will step down
from the Board with effect from 8 September 2006.



Mr Ivell, who is Chairman of Regent Inns plc, has advised the Board that,
following Regent's recent announcement to acquire Old Orleans and after mutual
discussion that there may be a potential conflict of interest between the
business of Old Orleans and TRG's Leisure business.



It is with regret, therefore, that the Board of TRG has accepted Mr Ivell's
resignation.  The Board would like to record its appreciation of the valuable
contribution made by Mr Ivell during his tenure as a Non-Executive Director of
TRG.
