                Response to statement by TDR Capital LLP ('TDR')

The Board of City Centre Restaurants notes the announcement today by TDR that it
is evaluating a possible offer for ASK Central PLC.

The Board notes that there is no offer from TDR and indeed TDR have stated that
there is no certainty that any offer will be forthcoming.  The Offer by City
Centre Restaurants announced on 18 December 2003 and posted to ASK Central
Shareholders on 22 December 2003, is the only firm Offer capable of acceptance.

Based on the Closing Share Price of City Centre Restaurants Shares on 8 January
2004 of 76.25 pence the Offer by City Centre Restaurants is worth at least 183.4
pence per ASK Central Share.  In addition, ASK Central Shareholders who accept
the City Centre Restaurants Offer are entitled to dividends worth at least 4.4
pence per ASK Central Share.

ASK Central Shareholders are reminded that the First Closing Date for the City
Centre Restaurants Offer, which has the unanimous recommendation of the ASK
Central board directors each of whom have provided irrevocable undertakings to
accept the City Centre Restaurants Offer, is 3.00 pm on 19 January 2004. To the
extent they have not already done so, ASK Central Shareholders who wish to
accept the Offer should complete and return their form of acceptance in
accordance with the procedure set out in the Offer Document.
