$6 Million Order From Astronautics
Processors, switches will equip Airbus A400M military aircraft
Radstone Technology, the world's leading independent supplier of
high-performance, embedded computer products for defence and aerospace
applications, announces today that it has received an order valued at close to
$6 million (approx. £3.2 million) from Astronautics Corporation of America, in
support of the A400M program, reaffirming the company's leadership position in
the field of rugged military computing solutions.
The order includes Radstone's IMP2A 3U CompactPCI processor, IXT2B Intel
Pentium-based processor and GBX16 Managed Gigabit Ethernet Switch, all built to
Radstone's maximum ruggedization level.
The IMP2A, IXT2B and GBX16 will form part of Astronautics' Network Server System
which will be installed on the Airbus Military A400M - the first military
transport plane to be developed by Airbus. This four-engine turboprop aircraft,
originally designed to meet the demand of European nations for military airlift
is expected to be in service from 2009. The Airbus A400M will operate in many
configurations including cargo transport, troop transport, MEDEVAC and aerial
refueling.
