Ricardo PLC 10 July 2002 10 July 2002 Ricardo plc ('Ricardo') Acquisition of Gemini Transmissions ('Gemini') Ricardo, Europe's largest independent automotive engineering consultancy, has boosted its growing motorsport capability by acquiring the operations of Gemini Transmissions Limited ('Gemini') for a cash consideration of circa £3.4m. Gemini, based at Brackley in Northamptonshire, employs 40 people and is an excellent fit with Ricardo's existing motorsport activities, complementing and strengthening Ricardo's technology and product offering. The site is in close proximity to Ricardo MTC, the base for Ricardo's motorsport operation. The consideration of circa £3.4 million relates to the purchase of the assets at Brackley, 40 employees together with patents and intellectual property. Post acquisition, Ricardo will have more than 100 staff dedicated to motorsport driveline & transmission activities. The purchase of Gemini will allow Ricardo to build upon recent motorsport successes which include transmissions that have been part of winning teams in many different race classes, most notably working with Audi to provide transmissions for their historic wins at Le Mans in 2000, 2001 and 2002.
