RIO TINTO MINING COMPANIES COMPARATIVE PLAN ('MCCP')

Further to an announcement on 20 February 2009 in connection with the MCCP, an adjustment to the number of Rio Tinto shares issued to Mr Tom Albanese, Chief Executive, has been made as a result of a processing error. As such, the Company announces that on Wednesday, 27 May 2009, Mr Albanese received 993 additional ordinary shares for nil consideration.
