SHAREHOLDINGS OF DIRECTORS AND PERSONS DISCHARGING MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITY


Rio Tinto plc has today been notified that, on 19 July 2006 in New York, the
following Directors and/or persons discharging managerial responsibility 
('PDMRs') as listed below acquired Rio Tinto plc ADRs at a price of US$204.967 
per ADR under the Rio Tinto America Inc Savings Plan.  This is a non-
discretionary purchase.
