The issuer has made the following amendment to the Notice of Results
announcement released yesterday, Monday 30 July at 12.28 under RNS No 6970H.

In the second paragraph the time of the results presentation should read '10.00
am London (BST)' and not '10.00 am London (GMT)' as previously stated. 

All other details remain unchanged.

                     Rio Tinto Half Year Results Webcast                      

Rio Tinto will announce its June 2001 half-year results on Thursday 2 August
2001.
 
A simultaneous webcast of the results presentation will be made at 10.00 am
London *(BST), 5.00 am US (EST)) on Thursday 2 August on Rio Tinto's website
(www.riotinto.com).
 
The Rio Tinto website carries instructions on how to access the half-year
results presentation and download the software required to view it.
 
An archival copy of the presentation will be available on the Rio Tinto
website soon after the event.
