Rio Tinto Board changes
Rio Tinto is pleased to announce that Mr Paul Skinner has been appointed a
non executive director of the boards of Rio Tinto plc and Rio Tinto Limited
with effect from 1 December 2001. Mr Skinner is a managing director of The
'Shell' Transport and Trading Company p.l.c. and a Group managing director of
The Royal Dutch/Shell Group of Companies.

Paul Skinner is a managing director of The 'Shell' Transport and Trading
Company p.l.c. and a Group managing director of The Royal Dutch/Shell Group
of Companies for whom he has worked since 1966. He is currently Chief
Executive Officer of Shell's global Oil Products business and has previously
held senior positions in all Shell's main businesses, working in Greece,
Nigeria, New Zealand, Norway and the UK. He is a member of the board of
INSEAD. Mr Skinner is 56.
