Preston Chiaro, president and chief executive officer of Rio Tinto Borax, has
been appointed chief executive of the Rio Tinto Energy product group in
succession to Greg Boyce. Mr Boyce has resigned to take up a position with
Peabody Energy in the United States.



Leigh Clifford, chief executive officer, said: 'Greg has made a significant
contribution during his 26 years with the Group and we wish him well in the
future.'

Mr Chiaro is an environmental engineer with Bachelor of Science, Environmental
Engineering and Master of Engineering degrees. He joined the Group in 1991 and
in 1995 became vice president and general manager of Boron Operations,
California's largest mine and mineral processing facility. He has been chief
executive of Rio Tinto Borax since 1999.
