AGM Statement - Appointment of Director

The following is extracted from the statement of Lord Rothschild, Chairman of RIT Capital Partners plc, at the Company's Annual General Meeting on 30 April 2014:

"I would like to announce the appointment today of John Makinson to the Board.  John is the Chairman of Penguin Random House, having previously been the Chairman and CEO of the Penguin Group. His experience included service on the Boards of Pearson and the US holding company of Saatchi & Saatchi.  He is a former editor of the Financial Times' Lex column before he became Managing Director of the FT.  John has kindly agreed to sit on our Audit and Risk Committee, as well as the main Board."
