Purchase of Own Shares



On Monday, 31 January 2000, RIT Capital Partners plc purchased 1,339,115 of
its Ordinary shares for cancellation at 398p per share.

After these shares have been cancelled, the issued share capital will be
154,463,040 Ordinary shares of £1 each.
