Purchase of Own Shares

On Monday, 12 June 2000, RIT Capital Partners plc purchased 275,000 of its
Ordinary shares for cancellation at 432.5p per share.

After these shares have been cancelled, the issued share capital will be
157,198,167 Ordinary shares of £1 each.
