RM plc - Change to Directorate
RM plc, the leading supplier of information and communications technology (ICT)
and other services to the UK education service, announces that Mike Fischer is
to stand down as a Non-Executive Director following the Annual General Meeting
on 28th January 2004 due to other time commitments. He will retain his role as
Lifetime President of the RM plc and will continue to contribute to the Group as
a member of RM's Education Advisory Council.
Mike Fischer co-founded RM with Mike O'Regan in 1973. He served as Chief
Executive for 24 years and then became Lifetime President and a Non-Executive
Director in 1997.
Commenting on Mike's decision, John Leighfield, Chairman of RM plc, said:
'Through his thirty-year involvement with RM, Mike Fischer has made an enormous
contribution to the development of the Group and, more widely, to the
development of educational ICT in the UK. No one in the UK has done more than
Mike in this respect. On behalf of the Board and shareholders of RM I would like
to thank him for all that he has done for the Group.
'Mike is standing down because his other activities - particularly his
involvement in educational and medical research - do not allow him to commit the
time he would like to his Non-Executive role at RM. I respect his view that his
current commitments are incompatible with the role of Non-Executive Director of
RM. However, the Board have agreed with Mike that - if and when circumstances
change - we will reconsider his position.
'I am pleased that RM will continue to benefit from his inspiration, wisdom and
experience through his role as Lifetime President and his presence on the
Group's Education Advisory Council.'
