RM to provide modern foreign languages learning software for English primary
schools
RM plc, the leading supplier of information and communications technology (ICT)
and other services to the UK education service, has been selected by the
Department for Education and Skills (DfES) to provide a sophisticated digital
learning resource for teaching Spanish at KS2 (key stage 2 - primary schools).
The contract, which has been awarded to 3T Productions, the Group's interactive
design subsidiary, is worth £950,000 during the current financial year.
The project is part of the DfES' push to introduce modern foreign language
teaching and learning in all primary schools. RM has pioneered the use of ICT in
interactive whole-class teaching with products such as Maths Alive and
Easiteach. The KS2 Spanish product will build on this experience and will
provide a learning environment for teachers that is motivating, exciting and
educationally rigorous.
Commenting on the KS2 Spanish contract, Tim Pearson, RM's CEO, said:
'I'm very pleased that 3T Productions will be working with the DfES on this
project. Both RM and 3T have been responsible for some major innovations in the
educational use of ICT, and the KS2 Spanish project should be a real asset in
driving modern foreign language teaching in our primary schools.
'This contract represents the benefits that the specialist expertise of 3T
Productions brings to the RM Group. 3T's interactive design expertise and
educational experience, combined with RM's proven ability to deliver large and
complex projects, makes us a good choice for this kind of contract.'
