New Developments at BETT Exhibition

RM PLC 12 January 2000 RM ANNOUNCES NEW DEVELOPMENTS AT BETT EXHIBITION RM plc, the leading supplier of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) software, services and systems to UK education, has announced further enhancements and updates to its products and services at BETT 2000, the annual educational technology exhibition which opens at Olympia, London today. As outlined at the preliminary results in November there is an increasing focus in all aspects of RM's business on the internet, this is evidenced by many of the new initiatives launched at BETT. Summary of key announcements at BETT: * RM has launched the RM Curriculum Window Box which includes enhanced internet integration, and online curriculum resources developed especially for primary schools. The new product is priced extremely competitively in recognition of the need not only to be at the forefront of innovation and development, but also to offer value for money to educational establishments. * A new suite of internet management tools which are designed to help schools make the most efficient and effective use of the internet. These include tools to speed up internet access, to separate the school's LAN from the external internet and a monitor to track and control all internet and email activity. * RM SecureNet is a service which allows schools to send information securely across the Internet, this can be used for example to transfer exam data to and from the awarding body. * RM Snapshot Numeracy, this is a new numeracy assessment package which will help teachers to make a clear assessment of a pupil's ability after a half- hour test. This package can also be used to complement the existing RM Maths Learning system software. * Launched a new version of Living Library, RM's internet content service. The Living Library is now used in over 30% of UK schools and is the most popular online reference service in education. Dorling Kindersley content has also been added to the resource available through Living Library. * Additionally 25,000 teachers have now signed up for the Learning Schools Programme, compared to 9,000 teachers as at the end of September 1999.
