RM plc, the UK's leading supplier of ICT and services to education
establishments, confirms that it has signed a £34.4 million contract with the
South Yorkshire eLearning Partnership to provide eLearning services across South
Yorkshire.
RM announced in March 2003 that it had been appointed preferred bidder for the
project. Final contract negotiations were completed during April, and RM will
commence delivering the contract in May.
The South Yorkshire e-Learning Programme is funded by the European Regional
Development Fund and the European Social Fund through Objective 1, and by the
Learning and Skills Council and Yorkshire Forward.
Commenting on the South Yorkshire eLearning Programme, Tim Pearson, CEO of RM,
said:
'RM is delighted that, after a detailed and searching procurement process, we
have been chosen to deliver this contract. The South Yorkshire eLearning
Partnership has a bold vision for using technology to deliver inclusive learning
- I am confident that RM and our partners can contribute to achieving that
vision, and to improving the skills base in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and
Sheffield.
'Securing the South Yorkshire contract is a significant step forward for RM's
developing education services business. As well as providing ICT
infrastructure, learning software, and support, RM is taking on the
responsibility of ensuring at least 18,000 learners in South Yorkshire achieve
formal IT qualifications, which will improve their employability and contribute
to prosperity in the region.'
