RM confirms that it has reached contractual close for a £24.5m, five-year contract to provide managed ICT services to the London Borough of Haringey's BSF (Building Schools for the Future) programme. RM announced on 30 June 2008 that Haringey Council's Cabinet Procurement Committee had approved the Group's appointment as selected bidder for the contract.
Haringey's BSF programme covers 16 schools, serving more than 12,000 pupils. Under the contract, RM will be responsible for specific educational performance measures, as well as performance measures relating to the effective delivery of the managed service.
Commenting on the contract, Terry Sweeney, CEO Designate of RM, said:

Now we can get on with the really important thing, which is working with our partners in Haringey to deliver the ICT managed service effectively, efficiently and in a way that genuinely helps improve teaching and learning. The Haringey BSF team has a very clear vision of how they intend to develop their schools and the role they intend ICT to play. We're privileged to have the opportunity to work with them to deliver that vision.'
Councillor Liz Santry, Haringey's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
'This contract is a key milestone and it illustrates how the BSF programme is gaining pace. I'm delighted for our young people that through this partnership they will have access to inspiring ICT in years to come. These technologies will undoubtedly, positively support teaching and learning in our schools.'
Tim Byles, Chief Executive of PfS, the government agency responsible for delivering the BSF programme nationwide, said:
'This is excellent news for young people, teachers and the wider local community in Haringey. At its heart BSF is about transforming education and improving the life chances for all young people, and innovative ICT which brings learning to life has a massive role to play in making this happen.'
