RM confirms Newham BSF contract
RM confirms that it has reached contractual close for a contract to provide managed ICT services to the London Borough of Newham's BSF (Building Schools for the Future) programme. The Group will provide the service as part of the Newham Learning Partnership, a Laing O'Rourke-led consortium in which RM holds a 15% stake. RM announced on 11 April 2008 that it had been selected for the project.
Councillor Quintin Peppiatt, Newham Council's executive member for Children and Young People said:
'This is a landmark announcement for the future of Newham's schools. We have spent a considerable time selecting our partners and in developing this programme to transform the environments which young people learn in.
'Laing O'Rouke and RM have excellent track records and we are pleased to have such high quality organisations involved.'
Tim Byles, Chief Executive of Partnerships for Schools, the organisation responsible for delivery of the BSF programme nationwide, said:
'Reaching financial close is a significant milestone for Newham's BSF project because it marks the start of a very important phase - the construction of new and remodelled schools which will change the face of education in the Borough.'
Terry Sweeney, Chief Executive of RM, said:
'We have a long track record of working with Newham to use technology to improve teaching and learning. We're delighted that the Borough has chosen us again as their educational ICT partner.'
