RM selected as strategic ICT partner by Aberdeen College
RM has been appointed by Aberdeen College as selected bidder for a contract to provide an outsourced managed IT service serving the College's 48,000 students and 800 staff. The contract is initially expected to be worth £7.5m over five years. Subject to completion of contract negotiations, delivery will commence in summer 2008.
RM will take over day-to-day management of the College's existing network infrastructure, which spans four main college locations, four libraries, twelve secondary schools and a large number of community centres. Approximately 22 of the Colleges IT staff will join RM as part of the team delivering the service. RM will also provide a development service, which will define, plan and implement extensions and enhancements to the College's network and strategic development projects, which will offer advice and guidance to the College as it develops its IT to meet the educational challenges of the next decade.
Terry Sweeney, CEO designate of RM, commented:
'It's great news for RM that Aberdeen College has chosen us as their strategic IT partner. The College has a strong track record of innovation and we're committed to providing the IT service they need to support their ambitious plans.
'We look forward to working with staff and students of the college - and, in particular, to welcoming those staff who will be joining the RM team.'
Roddy Scott, Vice Principal of Aberdeen College, said:
'Aberdeen College already has excellent and well managed IT. As we move to the next stage of our development, we wanted to identify a partner who could both manage our existing network effectively and advise on future developments. RM showed us that they had the delivery capability and educational understanding we needed.'
