RM chosen as ICT provider for Salford primary schools
RM has been selected to provide managed ICT services to primary schools in the City of Salford. The contract, which is with the Transforming Learning Partnership (the Local Education Partnership appointed to deliver Salford City Council's BSF programme), is worth £5m to RM over three years, with an optional two-year extension.
The Salford Primary Managed Service project will provide and manage sophisticated ICT infrastructure for 76 primary schools in the City. The schools will receive a wide range of RM intellectual property, including Community Connect 4, Kaleidos Learning Platform, and the Honeycomb Web 2.0 learning environment. RM will also be responsible for day-to-day management of both the new infrastructure and the schools' legacy ICT systems.
Terry Sweeney, Chief Executive of RM, said:
"It is great news that, following on from the Salford BSF programme, we have been given the opportunity to provide services for the City's primary schools. The two contracts together mean that we are now working with all of Salford's schools. I'm particularly pleased that we've been able to demonstrate that a full managed service approach can work for primary schools."
