Rockhopper Exploration plc, ('the Company') has been informed by Dr. Pierre
Jungels, Executive Chairman, that on 12 December he purchased 2,000 shares in
the Company at a price of 40 pence per share and has gifted 2,000 shares to his
adult children for nil consideration.

Following this purchase and transfer of shares, Dr. Jungels' beneficial interest
in the share capital of the Company remains unchanged at 319,047 shares,
representing approximately 0.44 per cent of the Company's current issued share
capital.
