NewMedia SPARK invests an initial £150,000
for a minority stake in Speedclear Limited
NewMedia SPARK plc ('SPARK') announces that it has invested
an initial £150,000 for a 10% equity stake in Speedclear
Limited, a business to business opportunity in the insurance
sector. SPARK is committed to put in a further £150,000 in
the initial stages if required by the Company and has the
opportunity to invest further sums to bring the total
investment to £2 million. The business of the Company is
the brainchild of Simon Plumridge, formerly of ACE Europe,
insurance underwriters, and combines his many years of
experience in the insurance industry with the benefits
available through the provision of information and services
via Internet platforms. The business will initially be
based in SPARK's offices in Soho, London, which will allow
the founders to call on the wide variety of skills and
contacts within SPARK to substantially increase the speed
with which they can bring their proposition to the market.
Commenting on the investment Michael Whitaker, CEO of SPARK,
said:
'We are pleased to be investing in Speedclear. The founders
have developed a very promising business proposition in a
sector which is in need of creative solutions to overcome
some deeply ingrained and outmoded practices. We believe
that this could be a substantial and profitable business
within a reasonably short period of time. We are also
pleased to be able to offer Simon and his team the ability
to share office space with us and so enable them to draw on
our experience and contacts in the Internet arena. This
investment further increases our portfolio of investments in
the B2B financial arena, a segment of the market which we
believe offers particularly attractive Internet business
opportunities.'
