                       NewMedia Spark plc ('The Company')



NewMedia Spark plc ('the Company') announces that it is currently considering a
range of strategic options relating to the future of the Company. One of the
options being considered is a possible sale of the Company, and discussions have
been held in relation to this possibility. However these discussions are still
at an early stage and may or may not lead to an offer being made for the
Company. Further, current indications are that such an offer, if made, would be
below the last stated net asset value of the Company of 13 pence per share. The
Board of the Company will continue carefully to consider all options open to the
Company and a further announcement will be made when appropriate.
