Purchase of own shares


NewMedia SPARK plc (the 'Company')


The Company announces that on 12th January it purchased 7,865,949 of its
Ordinary Shares of 2.5p at a price of 12.50p per share.


These shares will be held in Treasury.


This purchase equates to 1.80% of the Company's issued share capital.


Following this purchase the Company has 472,735,729 Ordinary shares in issue of
which 34,915,949 are now held as Treasury shares.
