Norish currently uses R22 refrigeration gas at 3 of its cold stores. R22 is a Hydrochlorofluorcarbon (HCFC) which is classed as an ozone depleting gas and with effect from 1st January 2010 it will no longer be possible to purchase virgin R22. The use of re-cycled R22 is still permitted until 31st December 2014.
Norish is pleased to announce that it has an option to purchase 50,000 kg at £4.05kg. Norish intends to account for this gas as a financial derivative under IAS39.
