ROLLS-ROYCE SHARES IN JET BLUE V2500 ENGINE ORDER
Rolls-Royce today (18 June 2001) announced engine sales worth up to $230
million as its share in an International Aero Engines (IAE) V2500 deal with
New York's JetBlue Airways.
The announcement, for up to 48 new V2500-powered Airbus A320 aircraft,
comprises 30 firm orders, five options and 13 purchase rights.
This will bring JetBlue's total fleet of V2500-powered aircraft to 123
consisting of 63 firm orders and 60 options. The airline has taken delivery of
14 A320s since it entered service in February 2000.
Rolls-Royce is a senior shareholder in the IAE consortium which also consists
of Pratt & Whitney, Japanese Aero Engine Consortium and MTU Aero Engines.
