KENYA AIRWAYS SELECTS ROLLS-ROYCE TRENT FOR BOEING 777s Rolls-Royce announced today (Monday 22 July) that Kenya Airways had chosen its Trent 800 engine for three Boeing 777-200ER aircraft. The value of the engine business is around $100 million. Deliveries begin in May 2004. Isaac Omolo Okero, Chairman of Kenya Airways, Steve Clarke, Technical Director of Kenya Airways and Charles Cuddington, Managing Director - Airlines, Rolls-Royce, signed the contract at the Farnborough Air Show. Charles Cuddington said: 'We are proud to be part of Kenya Airways' exciting fleet plans for its long-haul services. This decision underlines its reputation as an ambitious, forward-looking airline delivering a world-class standard of travel.' The 92,000lb thrust Trent 892s will power the extended-range 777s on international routes from the airline's main hub in Nairobi.
