Rolls-Royce PLC 13 November 2000 ROLLS-ROYCE WINS EXCLUSIVE £180 MILLION BRITANNIA 757 ENGINE OVERHAUL DEAL Rolls-Royce plc has signed a £180 million aero engine repair and overhaul contract with Britannia Airways, the UK's largest charter operator, to maintain its fleet of RB211-535E4-powered Boeing 757 aircraft. This exclusive ten year contract involves the maintenance of Britannia's RB211-535E4 engines on its fleet of 22 Boeing 757-200s. The work will be carried out at Rolls-Royce in Derby. Ian Lloyd, Managing Director, Aero Repair and Overhaul, for Rolls-Royce said: 'This latest contract extends our valuable and long standing relationship with Britannia. The airline has an excellent reputation for reliability in the global charter market and we are fully committed to supporting its operation.' Peter Buckingham, Managing Director, Britannia Airways said: 'A well serviced maintenance base is vital to the success of our operation and Rolls-Royce has demonstrated that it provides a comprehensive level of support together with a tailored approach to aftermarket services.' Rolls-Royce has provided engine support services for Britannia since the early nineties when the airline first entered service with Rolls-Royce RB211-535E4 engines on its Boeing 757s. These aircraft operate from several airports in the UK to destinations in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands while Britannia's fleet of Boeing 767s serve destinations in the USA, Caribbean, Mexico and the Far East. Notes to editors: * Last year Rolls-Royce won more than 100 repair and overhaul contracts in civil aero, defence and energy sectors. It has doubled the share of repair and overhaul on its own engines to more than 50% and, last year, aftermarket revenues as a whole accounted for 40% of the company's turnover. - 2 - * The full range of Rolls-Royce aftermarket activities includes repair and overhaul of products across the company's aero, marine and energy businesses as well as spares provision, engine leasing, 'Power by the Hour' agreements and predictive maintenance services. * The recently launched enginedatacenter.com is an integrated service providing operators with real time information to assist their fleet maintenance. Customers will soon be able to access many of these services through aeromanager, a web-based portal currently undergoing trials. * With a worldwide network of repair and overhaul operations established at 16 locations on four continents, Rolls-Royce now repairs 47 different engine types for more than 400 customers. More than 1,500 engines and 4,500 modules are overhauled in Rolls-Royce facilities each year.
