AGM trading update
At Rotork's AGM today, Chief Executive Bill Whiteley made the following
statement:
The start of the year has seen order intake of the Group's core product,
electric actuators, vary significantly from territory to territory. Strong
sales have been achieved within a number of markets, however these gains have
largely been offset by weakness in North America. Encouragingly, our total order
book at the end of April was comfortably up compared with the year-end figure.
The continued success and growth of Rotork Fluid System has been supported by
the division's successful relocation into substantially larger premises in
Lucca, Italy, and this move has been instrumental in our winning a large Middle
East project. Within the Rotork Gears division progress continues to be made in
tightly controlling the two under-performing units, Gears BV and Valvekits, and
both are now showing signs of a turnaround.
Overall, we expect the Group to make progress this year, however, the extent of
this progress will be dependent upon the confidence of our key users to proceed
with their investment plans.
