Chairman's AGM Statement

Electrocomponents plc held its Annual General Meeting earlier today.  Mr Roy
Cotterill, the Chairman stated:

Since the financial year end there has been no significant change in trading
conditions with the new Japanese operation continuing to develop as planned. 
The acquisition of Allied Electronics Inc was completed, as anticipated, on
2nd July and again we welcome Allied staff to Electrocomponents.  We have
become increasingly enthusiastic about our North American opportunities
through Allied and also the prospects for our alliance with Avnet Inc.
