ELECTROCOMPONENTS PLC 'the Company'                

Electrocomponents Savings Related Share Option Scheme (the 'Scheme')

Electrocomponents announces the following:

On 25 January 2002 Mr I Mason (Group Chief Executive) bought 828
Electrocomponents 10p ordinary shares at a price of 489.0p and Mr R B Butler
(Chief Process Officer) bought 503 Electrocomponents 10p ordinary shares at a
price of 489.0p. Both purchases were paid for with contributions recently
refunded under the terms of the Electrocomponents Savings Related Share Option
Scheme.

Following these transactions, Mr Mason holds 18,815 shares and Mr Butler holds
16,928 shares.
