Canchayllo Run-of-River Hydro Project Connects to Grid

Rurelec PLC (AIM: RUR), the owner, operator and developer of power generation capacity internationally, announces that yesterday its first run-of-river hydro power plant in Peru was successfully connected to the grid. This important step permits the plant to commence commissioning with live tests leading to commercial operations later in the month.  

Commenting on the results, Peter Earl, Rurelec's Chief Executive, said:

"This is a great milestone for our business in Peru and congratulations must go to the team there who made it happen high in the Andes.  This is the first of a number of small - and large - run-of-river hydro projects which we are developing and constructing in Peru.  We look forward to more news like this in the future."
