RYANAIR ANNOUNCES SEVEN NEW ROUTES FROM LONDON STANSTED TO EUROPE
Ryanair to Save European Air Travellers more than Euro 1 billion
Ryanair, Europe's largest low fares airline this morning in London launched
its largest ever Summer schedule which features five more new 737-800 series
aircraft (at a cost of US$200m.) and confirmed that on the 5th April next it
would launch daily services to seven new destinations from London Stansted
Airport.
The seven new routes to be operated from London Stansted are as follows;

These new routes see Ryanair enter two new country markets from London
Stansted, Austria and Belgium, competing head to head with BA, Lufthansa and
Sabena as well as adding three new destinations in Scandinavia (bringing the
Scandinavian market up to seven destinations), and two new destinations in
Italy (bringing the number of Italian destinations up to ten). In addition
Ryanair will also be adding frequencies on some of its existing routes from
Stansted with additional daily services to Dublin, Shannon and Glasgow
Prestwick.
Ryanair also confirmed today that it had almost concluded its negotiations
with four new Continental European bases, and confirmed that details of the
new base including flights, destinations and fares would be revealed at a
press conference next week on Wednesday 28th February. Ryanair confirmed that
it wouldn't be making any further comment on its new base until that date.
Announcing the launch of this biggest ever expansion of Ryanair's schedule
from London Stansted Airport, Ryanair's Chief Executive, Michael O'Leary said,
'This will undoubtedly be Ryanair's most successful Summer schedule -
ever. By adding two new countries to the Ryanair low fares family (Austria
and Belgium) we now have the opportunity of bringing low fare competition
to Austrian Airlines, BA and Sabena, and by adding new destinations in
Scandinavia and Italy we will continue our policy of increasing the
competitive pressure on British Airways, Alitalia, SAS and all of Europe's
high fare carriers as we continue to offer choice and low fares to British
and European consumers. As the comparative fares above show, Europe's
consumers have been ripped off by the high fare carriers for far too long
now.
'Ryanair have proven over the past five years that we can successfully
compete with Europe's biggest airlines, and we can save our customers many
hundreds of millions of pounds a year by giving consumers a choice over
the rip off airfares they were previously forced to pay when flying with
the flag carrier airlines.
'As our recent High Court victory in London confirmed, Ryanair's air fares
are not just cheaper than British Airways, but are in fact up to three
times cheaper, and we look forward to delivering huge savings for new
consumers in Austria, Belgium, Italy and Scandinavia with these new
destinations, services and fares.
'This Summer Ryanair will fly on 52 routes to 47 destinations around
Europe, with a fleet of 36 Boeing 737 aircraft including 15 of the most
modern 737-800 next generation aircraft. With these additional routes and
frequencies, we expect to grow our traffic from 7 to 9 million passengers
over the coming year, and in doing so we will save those customers over
Euro 1 billion over the air fares being charged by our competitors.
