New European Base

Ryanair Holdings PLC 31 October 2002 RYANAIR ANNOUNCES ITS THIRD CONTINENTAL EUROPEAN BASE AND SIX INTERNATIONAL ROUTES FROM MILAN BERGAMO Ryanair, Europe's only low fares airline today confirmed that it had chosen Milan Bergamo to be its third Continental European base. On the 6th of February 2003, Ryanair will allocate up to four aircraft to its new base in Milan operating over 30 flights each day on 6 international routes to London, Frankfurt, Brussels, Hamburg, Paris and Barcelona. In addition to the new routes, Ryanair will increase its frequency to London to up to six daily flights, four of which will be to London Stansted and two to London Luton Airport. This new continental base will create over 100 jobs in Milan Bergamo with over 2 million passengers being carried through the airport in the first 12 months. These passengers will save over €200 million compared to the high fares currently being charged by Alitalia operating from Milan Linate and Milan Malpensa. Ryanair also launched airfares to and from Milan at prices that have never been seen before in the Italian market. Ryanair's lowest one-way fare will be at least 90% cheaper than the lowest fare offered by Alitalia, the high fare Italian airline. For many years travellers to and from Milan have had little choice other than to pay Alitalia's high fares, but Ryanair brings that to an end from the 6th February 2003. Italian consumers (and potential visitors) will now have a choice of daily scheduled flights and guaranteed lowest airfares from Milan to London, Paris, Brussels, Hamburg, Frankfurt and Barcelona. Ryanair's lowest fares will only be available on Europe's largest travel website at www.ryanair.com and we urge prospective passengers to book early as seats at these prices will sell out quickly. The recruitment and training of our people has already commenced for the launch of the base on the 6th of February next and these new routes will be operated by three of Ryanair's newest aircraft the Boeing 737-800 series which will be located at Milan Bergamo Airport. Ryanair's new base at Milan Bergamo is a natural development. For some time now, Ryanair has been the largest carrier between London and Italy and more recently has expanded its Italian services by adding flights from Brussels Charleroi and Frankfurt Hahn to various destinations in Italy. Last year, Ryanair flew over 3.5 million passengers in and out of Italy and next year we expect to carry in excess of 5 million passengers as a result of this new base in Milan. Ryanair's success is based on its widely available low fares, high frequency and brand new 737-800 series aircraft. We are delighted that over 45% of all the passengers on our Italian routes are Italian originating, so Ryanair has developed a very strong customer base in the Italian market to whom we are now offering an even wider choice of destinations at even lower fares. Since we established the route to London from Milan Bergamo last summer and followed that quickly with a route to Frankfurt Hahn, we have seen our business grow spectacularly at this airport. We have worked very successfully with the Board and Management of Milan Bergamo to build this business and we know that our partnership with them, together with our unique offering of widely available low fares, will give us the firm foundation to grow this airport into one of Ryanair's most successful European bases.'
