SIX INVESTMENT PROPERTIES FOR £4.517m
Safeland announces that it has exchanged contracts for the sale of the
following investment properties ('the Investment Properties') for a total
consideration of £4,517,000 cash:

In the Report and Accounts of Safeland plc for the year ended 31 March 2000,
the net assets now being sold were valued at £4.489m and produced rental
income of £443,000. Certain of the above properties have been owned by the
Group since 1993 when Norwich Union originally provided Safeland with a fixed
term loan facility to facilitate the purchase of the Investment Properties.
The sale proceeds will be applied in the repayment to Norwich Union of the
principal loans on the Investment Properties and also in the payment of
penalties totalling approximately £1m arising on the early repayment of the
fixed term loans. The sale of the Investment Properties will trigger the
transfer of a credit of £686,000 from the Revaluation Reserve to the Company's
Distributable Reserves, however, repayment of the above penalties together
with the adverse trading which the Group is currently experiencing will result
in a loss of approximately £1.5 million for the Group for the period which
will be reflected in the annual accounts to 31 March 2001.
The benefits attributable to the Group are an initial reduction in gearing and
the release of £1m of equity which will be utilised by the Directors in the
property trading activities of the Group.
