The Board of The Sage Group PLC ("Sage") today announces that Guy Berruyer, currently CEO of Sage's Mainland Europe & Asia operations, will succeed Paul Walker as Group Chief Executive with effect from 1 October 2010. Paul will remain with Sage until 1 December 2010.

Anthony Hobson, Chairman of The Sage Group plc, said -

During his thirteen year career with Sage, Guy has lead the successful growth of our business in Europe and, more recently, in Asia. He has a strong track record of profit growth, both organically and through the successful acquisition and integration of companies.

Guy is well qualified to realise these opportunities, with his international experience, market expertise and proven record of delivering innovative software and services. He has a clear and knowledgeable view of how Sage should develop and great ambition for the Group".

About Guy Berruyer

Guy joined Sage in 1997 to run its French operations. He was appointed to the Board of Directors in January 2000. Currently he has responsibility for Mainland European and operations in Asia. Previous to joining Sage he held the position of European Director for the US software company Intuit.  Guy's university education was at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne where he trained as an engineer. He also holds an MBA from Harvard University. Guy is married with teenage children.
